Job Summary
The Singanayagam Lab is recruiting a Research Technician to support investigation into the role of the airway microbiome in innate immunity to respiratory pathogens in chronic lung disease.
We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Research Technician to work at the MRC Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology (CBRB) within the Section of Molecular Microbiology based at the Flowers Building, South Kensington campus of Imperial College London.
This Research Technician role offers an exciting opportunity to support research projects based at the MRC CBRB. The post will be within the Laboratory of Dr Aran Singanayagam and will facilitate innovative research on mechanisms of impaired anti-microbial immunity in chronic lung disease. The post is supported by an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship Award.
The position will involve laboratory-based research using cutting-edge immunological and molecular microbiological techniques in human and animal disease models to gain functional understanding of roles played by the recently discovered respiratory tract microbiome. Work will focus on how commensals within the microbiota regulate immune homeostasis in health and how perturbations that occur in chronic lung diseases such as asthma and COPD lead to immune dysregulation and impaired protection against pathogens.
You will join an exciting multidisciplinary group with expertise in immunology and molecular microbiology. The post holder will be encouraged to develop their own research project in addition to their standard duties. You will be required to work both individually and as a team and may be required to teach more junior members of the laboratory. You should integrate with the group with a cooperative, enthusiastic and flexible approach.
