Faculty / Directorate

The DMU Education Academy is De Montfort University’s new educational development and enhancement unit. Applying a strategy-aligned and data-informed approach in all that it does, the Academy supports the delivery of DMU’s Empowering University Strategy and Learning for Life Implementation Plan. Our expert developers in academic practice and digital capability work side-by-side at the centre of DMU’s impactful and student-focused learning and teaching community.

Role

This key academic role in the DMU Education Academy will lead the delivery of the Academy’s Postgraduate Certificate for new and developing higher education lecturers. You will take responsibility for the organisation of a high-quality experience for programme participants and will supervise and coordinate the contribution of staff to the PG Cert programme colleagues within the Education Academy and across the wider university. You will also take a leading role in developing plans to expand the PG Cert Empowering Education into a Master’s programme and will identify academic / module programme developments to enhance the student experience.

Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will be a motivated and experienced educational practitioner with a detailed understanding of the delivery of postgraduate certificate programmes in education and teaching practice in universities. Other key skills and qualities include:

  • Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA)
  • Proven experience of exceptional teaching and working within a robust quality framework including academic quality, assessment and audit processes. Full understanding of the role of the Office for Students in the regulation of student outcomes.
  • A proven and successful track record of teaching and assessing on postgraduate certificate in academic development programmes, ideally including programme leadership.
  • Commitment to working on campus for three days per week, with two days remote working.
