This is a unique opportunity to take on new challenges with a team that will be preparing to provide IT support for the largest building in the University’s science area (due to be finished in September 2025). This role involves working with a strong team to provide effective technical support for our department, with a particular focus on the teaching elements. You will have particular responsibility for supporting our undergraduate teaching IT, maintaining the computers and servers in our IT suite and practical lab, smartboards, laptops for fieldwork and computers/AV in lecture theatres. You will also be a key member of our first/second-line support team, staffing the service desk and ensuring that through good communication, effective processes, procedures, and excellent documentation we help the Department get the best value from our IT.

You will have a track record of delivering outstanding customer service. You will be familiar with AV equipment, Windows and Apple clients. The ability to foster a team approach to troubleshooting and exploring novel solutions is essential. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills, the ability to tailor communication to a range of stakeholders, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work methodically and interpret standard procedures and sources accurately, also the ability to develop good working relationships with a range of people are all essential.

The team is a group of skilled individuals, each with their own faucets of expertise, with an intrinsic culture of sharing skills and knowledge to develop teammates. We do not work in silos, exposure to unusual hardware and software is commonplace and this role is ideally suited to someone who is looking to develop a broad skillset, with continuous professional development at the fore.

Full training will be given on unfamiliar systems or applications.
