Role Outline

Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking a lecturer to teach an Internship Seminar course on the Journalism track during the Fall 2024 London Internship Programme for Boston University study abroad students.

The course has 10 hours of contact time delivered in 5 sessions. Internship Seminar dates for the course are as follows: First session 11th or 12th September, Second session 2 nd or 3rd October, Third session 30th or 31st October, Fourth session 20th or 21st November, Fifth session December 4th.

Teaching times vary depending on the session but will typically be taught in AM/PM slots.

This is a temporary appointment with the potential to be renewed.

Description

The BU London internship experience offers students an opportunity to apply their academic learning in a professional environment and aims to prepare them for the world of work by enhancing transferrable skills (e.g. in communication, time management and professional networking).

The internship seminar reflects on the students’ experience at the placement and focuses on four key aspects: experiential learning, academic track content, learning and development theory, and the Individual in Community skill set of Boston University's General Education curriculum.

Students benefit from gaining an insight into a diverse work culture at their placement and through peer learning within their internship seminar group.

Classes will be delivered in person.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will be a highly competent lecturer with both significant professional and teaching experience in Journalism. They will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably a PhD, in a relevant discipline. Applicants should demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication skills and experience in teaching undergraduate students, preferably including American & international students.
