The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) seeks to appoint a Teaching Associate or Teaching Fellow in Computer Science in order support our growing student population. Based within the Faculty of Science, CIS is an internationally recognised research department specialising in information science, artificial intelligence, computer security, health informatics, interactive systems, and theoretical computer science. It is home to around 900 undergraduates, taught postgraduate and PhD students with an increasing emphasis on in person and online delivery of high-quality educational programmes. CIS is working closely with industry through a growing portfolio of education and knowledge exchange projects supported by the Scottish Funding Council Innovation Centres, like the DataLab and the Digital Health and Care Institute and Innovate UK.

CIS has recently expanded the range of programmes on offer and modes of delivery. You will need a proven academic or professional track record in a field related to computer science or software engineering, but we are particularly interested in applicants with expertise of modern developments in computer systems, software engineering and technology in business.

Experience of teaching in one or more of the following areas is required: computer organisation and systems, programming, and software engineering.

Successful applicants will be expected to deliver several modules relevant to their expertise. They will also be expected to play a role in the design of future programmes and champion the undergraduate student experience. The teaching and learning environment within Strathclyde is rapidly evolving, including increased use of online and technology enabled teaching, as well as more traditional delivery, so experience of teaching in a variety of models would be welcome. You will need to demonstrate flexibility to adapt and innovate your approach to teaching and learning to embrace this evolution. Some overseas teaching may also be required.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Dr Rosanne English, Deputy Head of Department (Rosanne.English@strath.ac.uk)

Formal interviews for this post will be held on Wednesday, 17 July 2024.
