Location: University of Derby, Nuclear Skills Academy/Markeaton Street Campus 

This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd. Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets, some roles within the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA) require post-holders to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance.

This role does not currently require SC clearance, and this will not be a condition of appointment to this role. However, please be aware that there may be a future requirement for the successful candidate/s to undertake a SC check should any change in circumstances render this necessary due to development of the NSA over the coming years.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Nuclear Engineering. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our nuclear engineering programs, particularly as part of higher degree apprenticeships.

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and practical sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Develop and enhance course materials, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Supervise student projects and dissertations.
  • Engage in research activities related to nuclear engineering.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and contribute to knowledge exchange initiatives.
  • Mentor and support students in their academic and professional development.

To be successful you will:

  • Have teaching experience at a university level.
  • Have a strong research track record, with publications in reputable journals or conferences.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Industry experience or professional certifications would be advantageous.
