About the role

As the Exams & Assessment Manager you will play a vital role in delivering core activities whilst taking on the role of subject matter expert for the institution, across both taught and postgraduate research provision. You will oversee the day to day operations of an 8 person team, maintaining assessment records by undertaking regular checks, implementing reasonable adjustments, and resolving issues affecting individual or cohort records.

Working closely with professional services leads, together with colleagues in other key areas such as ITS and Estates & Facilities Management, you will take the lead on the production of the in-person examination timetable for taught students and the oversight of the provision of the relatively small number of in-person exams, including the provision of modified examination arrangements for students with reasonable adjustments. In doing so you will be conscious of the need for continuous service improvement in support of a high quality student experience.

Finally, as a key stakeholder/senior user in the forthcoming implementation of our new student records system, you will make a significant contribution to a transformational piece of work representing a significant commitment to the needs and ambitions of the institution as it shapes its next strategic plan.

About you

The post requires a very high level of personal responsibility and initiative and as such you will have a significant experience of working with complex record systems, assessment regulations, and the timetabling complex activities, ideally within the HE sector. You will possess a strong array of technical skills and experience of working with complex data and large databases. You will have excellent communication skills and inter-personal skills and be able to use them to influence, negotiate and problem solve. You will have proven team leadership or line management experience. In addition, and importantly, you will have a good understanding of the principles of change management, the importance of personal resilience, and drive to be ready to lead the team through a period of change.
