We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated chromatin biologist to join Nick Gilbert’s research group (www.chromatinlab.org; @chromatinlab). Our group forms part of a vibrant research community within the MRC Human Genetics Unit where our specific focus is understanding how chromatin structure regulates gene expression and genome stability. Strong interest in chromatin biology and/or gene regulation is crucial whilst previous experience in molecular biology, genome-engineering and 3C/Hi-C techniques are desirable. 

The Opportunity:

This project aims to investigate how condensin packages chromosomes and is important for maintaining genome stability. This is a unique opportunity for a graduate PhD student or an experienced post-doctoral researcher to join a diverse team of chromatin biologists, physicists and bioinformaticians all investigating chromatin architecture and regulation. 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • PhD in a relevant subject.
  • Strong interest in chromatin biology.
  • Molecular biology and tissue culture techniques including CRISPR, ChIP, RNAi, next generation sequencing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
