We seek a motivated, experienced, research technician with a genuine interest in equine health. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for development and to work with equine researchers in the Department of Equine Clinical Science, University of Liverpool.

This position is primarily focussed to assist the specified HBLB funded research project, any remaining time will be dedicated to support a variety of research projects within the Department of Equine Clinical Sciences.

You will work closely with equine medicine specialist Amie Wilson who is the primary investigator on this project, and Dean of the Veterinary School, Professor Paul Lunn who is the primary supervisor of this research. This post will support research into Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1), an important disease with significant impact to the equine population.

We require a research Technician with specific skills in molecular biology and who can handle and process clinical samples and assist with running of the research project.  This role requires a highly skilled individual with specific technical skills relevant to the field EHV-1 research including tissue preparation, DNA extraction and PCR.  Personal attributes such as excellent communication, verbal and written, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and organise your own time will also be essential.  The ability to work across multiple sites including farms and rural locations is essential.

You will provide both technical and clerical support of research into Equine Herpesvirus.  You will be based at the Phillip Leverhulme Equine Hospital on the Leahurst Campus at the University of Liverpool.  The post is available for 2 years fixed-term, part funded by a HBLB research award to support research activities.
