We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Hensman Moss research group in the UCL Huntington’s Disease Centre, (based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease in the Queen Square Institute of Neurology) to work on the Sperm-CAG project. Sperm-CAG is an innovative study funded by CHDI Foundation that seeks to characterize and investigate the underpinning mechanisms behind genetic anticipation in Huntington’s disease.

The post is funded by a grant from the CHDI Foundation and is available from 01 August 2024 for one year in the first instance for candidates at ST2/SpR2 and below; a shorter appointment duration will be offered for candidates at ST3/SpR3 and above, dependent on starting salary, due to funding limitations.

An appropriate Honorary contract or Research Passport will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.

You will be a Registered Medical Practitioner permitted to practise in the UK at the commencement of the post and have an interest in translational research. You will have experience publishing peer reviewed papers, of working in an experimental biosciences lab, and have an understanding of neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease. You must have a very high level of consideration and care for patients and research volunteers, strong team-working skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills. You should be proficient in the use of IT, quantitative data analysis and modelling. A PhD in biosciences or related discipline, understanding of Good Clinical Practice, and experience in molecular biology / genetics are desirable.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

The role is offered in the range of £43,619 - £67,652 per annum including London Allowance, on the CL, JDPS, or StR scale, dependent on NHS contract and/or stage of clinical training.
