The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the team on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 10 months. 

As a Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the management, administration and reconciliation of key balance sheet control accounts, with a focus on payroll related balances and the posting of monthly payroll journals.

You will play an active role in following up and clearing outstanding transactions, liaising across teams and departments to ensure the accuracy of the finance system. Additionally, you will play a key role at month end, quarter end and year end to ensure the efficient delivery of accurate financial information to stakeholders.

You will also support the University’s subsidiary companies - particularly UAL Arts Temps Ltd., a new trading subsidiary.

This role is diverse and will provide comprehensive support across the Accounting Services team, delivering a high level of customer service to external and internal stakeholders. You will also be required to cover for other members of the team on a rotational basis.

About you

You will be qualified or working towards a CCAB recognised professional accounting qualification. In addition to this, you will need a good working knowledge of financial reporting systems and experience of working with large data sets and reconciling complex finance records.

You will be able to plan, prioritise and manage resources effectively, pairing this with experience in a fast-moving financial environment, working to key milestones and delivering comprehensive results to tight deadlines.

You will possess excellent communication skills and will be capable of inspiring and motivating teams. A customer/student focused approach to your work is essential, along with the ability to use your initiative to solve problems. You will also need a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
