We are recruiting a  Researcher to work on an ESRC-Productivity Institute funded project, The UK Productivity-Governance Puzzle:  Are UK’s Governing Institutions Fit for Purpose in the 21st Century, directed by Professor Andrew Westwood and Professor David Richards in the Department of Politics, University of Manchester [UoM] collaborating with Professor Michael Kenny (University of Cambridge and Dr. Patrick Diamond (UQM, London). The researcher will be based in the Department of Politics, UoM for 18 months of the project’s remaining length. The University invites applications for the above post with a start date of 1 September 2024.

Applications are invited from candidates who have been awarded a PhD in Political Science or a related subject (or have equivalent research experience). You will need to have (1) skills in historical data-gathering, literature and documentary review and analysis as part of a process-tracing methodology; and (2) experience in qualitative research methods, in particular focus groups and elite interviewing including specialist experience of using NVIVO.   The post is tenable full-time from 1 September 2024 for 18 months. This is a replacement post for an RA who has taken up a full-time position elsewhere.
