Job description
In line with St Mary’s vision and values, the Head of School of Law and Society will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the School, driven by a commitment to teaching and learning, the student experience, partnerships, research, and knowledge exchange. Reporting to the Dean of Faculty, the Head of School will manage the academic staff and resources in the School, to deliver high-quality services to students. As a member of the Faculty’s Leadership Team, the Head of School will be responsible for local implementation of Faculty and University-wide initiatives, and for ensuring the School is compliant with all relevant legal, procedural, and policy frameworks.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in academic leadership and managing teams, and an extensive record of achievement in teaching and learning. A sound understanding of emerging trends in the HE sector, including relevant quality assurance and enhancement policies, and the implications of these for the School’s portfolio is essential.
