The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking a Research Fellow with strong qualitative research skills to work on a 0.6 FTE post between 01 Oct 2024 and 31 Jan 2025 on the project “Bridging Workforce Gaps in Skilled Delivery in Rural Communities in Nigeria”.
LSHTM will lead a rapid evaluation of the project activities, to assess the extent of implementation and perceptions of the intervention’s feasibility, acceptability, and utility. The evaluation will draw on indepth interviews with stakeholders at the facility, Local Government Area and State levels, together with data on implementation activities.
The postholder will remotely support IDI data collection and transcription which will be conducted by research staff based in Nigeria. The postholder will then analyse the data and produce a report, which will be drawn on for various project outputs.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree in a relevant topic with strong skills and experience in qualitative interview research including in data collection and analysis; experience of conducting research in low- and middle-income country health systems; and excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
The post is available at 0.6 FTE from 01 October 2024 to 31 January 2025. We are open to discussing proposals for other allocations of the FTE across these months, but the completion deadline of 31 January 2025 is not negotiable.
The salary will be on the Academic salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
