Research Integrity & Ethics Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Leeds Beckett University as we recruit a Research Integrity and Ethics Manager to join our team to be the principal specialist in leading on the development, promotion, implementation, and support of our research integrity and ethics policy and processes. This post comes at a critical time for LBU, to ensure our compliance with external concordats in the sector, such as the Concordat to Support Research Integrity.

The successful candidate will:

• Lead on the development, revision, implementation, and promotion of the policies and procedures in relation to research integrity and research ethics across the University and will be the central point of contact for integrity and ethics related enquiries related to research at the University.
• Lead on the implementation and ongoing support of a new online ethics approval platform to be introduced in 2024/25. The new system will be an intuitive, automated platform with clear workflows that fully supports ethical approval, compliance and management for research. It is fundamental to our ethics approval processes and will replace our current in-house system that has limited functionality.
• Ideally possess advanced knowledge and understanding of the research integrity and research ethics policy environment in the UK and its development and implementation in a university setting and will be expected to demonstrate advanced understanding of the processes involved in administering research ethics procedures and associated research ethics management and/or approval systems.
• Manage and administer the University’s online ethics system, ensuring that the ethics approval platform is being used according to ethics procedures, generating reporting and audit requirements as needed to meet institutional and sector compliance.
• Be a member and support the work of the University’s Research Ethics Sub-Committee, engaging closely with the School Research Ethics Coordinators and relevant colleagues from professional services that support research.
