We are looking for two lab technicians to manage the day-to-day running of our state-of-the-art research labs, one specialising in cell and plant biology and the second in Drosophila husbandry.
You will need to have a good understanding of lab management and health and safety and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for reinforcing good lab practice, maintaining lab equipment and supporting our research teams across different labs.
The ideal candidate will have good attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a friendly and approachable manner.
Essential qualifications required for the post:
- Qualifications required for post: HNC/HND in Biology discipline or appropriate BSc/MSc ; or demonstrable experience working in a biology laboratory environment
Essential experience required for the pots:
- Significant relevant scientific laboratory based experience
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of health and safety issues, and implement those in a laboratory environment
- Experience in lab housekeeping
- General molecular biology wet lab skills, making media and chemical stock
- Experience in managing databases
