Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2024 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global top institution for both Music and Performing Arts by Subject.
The Royal College of Music Museum manages a designated collection of c.14,000 objects spanning from the 15th to the 20th century documenting the history and performance of music through musical instruments, paintings, sculpture, early prints and drawings. It is fully Accredited and reopened in new purpose-built spaces in 2022. It is a recipient of the Research England ‘Higher Education Museums, Galleries and Collections Fund’.
The Museum is open six days a week and attracts about 20,000 visitors per year. It relies on a team of eight people working with a team of volunteers to deliver an intense programme of exhibitions, concerts, learning and participation activities on site and online.
The Collections and Operations Manager will work in close contact with the Curator to coordinate the work of a team of four members of staff to ensure that visitors’ services are developed and delivered to a high standard and that spaces and collections are managed in line with Accreditation best practice to maintain and enhance the international profile of the Museum inside and beyond the College.
