We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Manager to join the Sustainable Energy Engineering Group at the Department of Engineering Science at the Begbroke Science Centre. The is a fixed-term post for 5 years.
About the role
You will be responsible for the efficient and effective running of all laboratories under the leadership of the Professor of Sustainable Energy Engineering. This will include: day-to-day management of the laboratories; supervision and guidance of lab staff, researchers and students; providing technical expertise; advising on Health and Safety matters and ensuring adherence to procedures and standards; effective management of lab resources (contracting, purchasing, budgeting); supporting research and proactively identifying and implementing improvements in the laboratory.
About you
The successful candidate should possess a degree in life sciences/chemistry/related field, equivalent vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in laboratory management, together with experience of working in an experimental laboratory. You will demonstrate an excellent understanding of the operation of complex laboratory instruments, and a good knowledge of health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations. You will also have excellent planning and organizational skills, communication skills, IT skills, and record-keeping abilities.
