Working with us as a Thermal Laboratory Operative
The Thermal Laboratory Operative will be joining to become part of the dynamic Energy House Labs Team at the University of Salford. The successful applicant will join the highly regarded Thermal Measurement Laboratory, which has been providing high level commercial services and certification to industry worldwide for over 40 years. As well as being part of the wider Energy House Labs team, this fantastic opportunity will enable you to expand your abilities in a major growth area for the University, with a potential to develop your skills and experience in delivering world-class commercial services to industry and research.
The role is to work with the Thermal Measurement Laboratory team supporting the Technical and Quality Manager, as well as liaising with external bodies such as Regulatory Authorities and commercial clients. The successful applicant will be expected to fulfil the day-to-day activities of the laboratory, including rigorous testing of insulation and building materials to international standards, statistical data analysis and reporting, and working within laboratory quality systems, enabling the laboratory to deliver reliable results to clients with a high level of confidence and impartiality. Maintaining excellence within a commercial environment enables the laboratory to support high level and rigorous research within the wider Energy House Labs team.
The ideal candidate will have a background in physics and/or engineering and have a good understanding of scientific equipment, measurement, data collection, report writing, software supported analytics and lab processes and procedures with a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification. An understanding of building materials and construction techniques, as well as an understanding of related standards would be beneficial. We are a flexible dynamic team so we are looking for and candidate with excellent communication skills, a commitment to team working and a flexible approach that can deliver for the whole team.
