The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Established in 2002, the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) is an academic centre of excellence in Chinese medicine as well as biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences in the region. It hosts the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (QRCM), as well as Macao Centre for R&D in Chinese Medicine, UM Centre for Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences, UM Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Over the past decade, the Institute has established an international reputation in conducting high-quality research with special emphasis on Chinese medicine quality research, drug discovery and development, immunopharmacology, systems pharmacology, molecular pharmaceutics and regulatory sciences. It has secured outstanding funding support from both national and regional governments and built long-term strategic collaborations with top academic organizations around the world. ICMS/QRCM invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (Animal Laboratory or related field), to maintain the laboratory environment & safety, assist in the management and safety of laboratory animal centre, the animals’ welfare, the diagnosis and treatment for laboratory animal centre, equipment use and training for laboratory users, and other laboratory-related activities.
Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and mutual agreement.
Qualifications
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible.
Remuneration
Remuneration offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
