An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious researcher to join our team working on a Partnership Growth Award named BIGGLES - Billing Integrated Grid & Generated Local Electricity Supplies.
This is a 12-month feasibility study that will explore the delivery of combined energy billing for grid supplied & locally generated electricity with retrofit costs to residents of community energy projects to Ofgem billing standards. A roadmap to a commercial scale solution, and the delivery of the early steps along the roadmap to achieve a housing volume well beyond current demonstration scale and towards commercial viability.
We are looking for a Research Associate/Fellow who can deliver the research whilst helping to manage project delivery. Therefore, it is essential that candidates have knowledge and skills in research in energy in buildings and communities, and experience in project management. Knowledge and experience in economic aspects of energy in buildings and community energy schemes are highly desirable. Candidates must hold an Engineering or Science undergraduate degree and have a PhD, or be near to completion, in an energy-related subject.
The successful candidate will also possess excellent standards of written and spoken English, skills in writing reports and presentations, ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the group and within the project, and enthusiasm, motivation and drive to embed new knowledge and to take ownership of the relevant work package within project. Relevant industry experience (including work placements) is desirable but not essential.
This post is available from 1st October 2024 and is fixed term until 31st August 2025. Hours of work are part time (29 hours).
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Claire Hardwidge email claire.hardwidge@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
