We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic academic to join the School of Law as a Lecturer in Commercial Law. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate on-campus and online distance learning teaching and assessment (including dissertation supervision) primarily in the Commercial Law Subject Area, especially in areas of Scots commercial law including insolvency, diligence, rights in security, agency, partnership and insurance law. The successful candidate will play a full part in the collegiate life of the Subject Area and Edinburgh Law School, and will be expected to develop and implement an ambitious research plan.
The successful candidate will play a full part in the collegiate life of the Subject Area and the Edinburgh Law School and will be expected to develop and execute a realistic and achievable research plan.
The School of Law strives to be a diverse and inclusive community. We particularly welcome applications from candidates belonging to groups that have been traditionally under-represented in the subject.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
As well as a CV and cover letter, candidates are required to upload an outline (maximum 2 pages) of their research plans as part of the application process. Candidates are also asked to identify their two strongest publications (which may include work under review or accepted but not published) and explain why - in their view - these publications are both original and significant (a form is provided to facilitate the completion of this step). Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be asked to submit what they consider to be their two strongest publications where available.
