We are looking to appoint a postdoctoral research assistant to join the Psychopharmacology and Research Lab to work on a large-scale collaborative project funded by the Wellcome Trust. The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford and is full time although consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work part time (minimum 80% FTE) on a pro rata basis with appropriate adjustment of duties
The post is fixed term (funded for 2 years).
The University has introduced a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 a year (pro rata) for all staff on grades 1–10 of the main salary and grading structure which will be implemented in the September 2024 payroll.
You will work on a project exploring joint mechanisms underpinning sleep and depression, with a particular focus on the orexin system. This post will involve collaborating across a multi-discipline team including interactions with preclinical and psychological treatment studies. We will support the post holder in their career aspirations and focus on positive research culture.
You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD in clinical or cognitive neuroscience, human psychopharmacology, or experimental medicine and will have excellent data analysis skills, including experience of dealing with complex data sets. Evidence of commitment to open science approaches and applications is essential along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience of working in an interdisciplinary area. Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and experience with gaining approvals and communicating with regulatory and approval bodies (such as ethics committees, MHRA, NHS R&D departments) would be desirable.
