About the role:
We are currently looking for a LIMS Administrator to join the CRUK National Biomarker Centre (NBC) and be responsible for maintaining and managing our LabWare Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This is a crucial service to ensure NBC functions smoothly and continues to satisfy both regulators and sponsors quality standards.
You will be responsible for the day to day management and configuration of LIMS, including planning and facilitating system upgrades where necessary. You will proactively recommend and implement process enhancements to optimise system usage, performance and laboratory workflows.
Working across the NBC teams and wider CRUK Manchester Institute, you will provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues and be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems related to LIMS, delivering training to staff in LIMS processes and providing 1:1 support for users.
You will be expected to keep abreast of current developments in LIMS software, regulatory requirements and related fields in order to implement new approaches as and when necessary.
About you:
You should have a BSc in biological sciences or a relevant scientific discipline (or equivalent relevant experience). Experience of SQL and managing databases is essential as well as experience in writing and reviewing documentation required for regulatory compliance e.g., SOPs, risk assessments, project plans and reports.
You will be proactive and able to drive forward initiatives. You will be a natural problem-solver, with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work flexibly. Experience working in a laboratory setting or cancer biology research would be an advantage. This is an opportunity for a motivated and focused individual, who strives for continual improvements to join the CRUK NBC.
Why choose the CRUK National Biomarker Centre?
The Cancer Research UK National Biomarker Centre (https://cruknbc.org/) is a leading and highly specialised translational research centre within The University of Manchester (www.manchester.ac.uk), core funded by Cancer Research UK (www.cancerresearchuk.org), the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world.
Our Centre discovers, develops, validates and qualifies biomarkers in clinical studies and trials that detect cancer earlier and predict and monitor therapy responses to support optimised treatment of patients with cancer. Our advanced research programmes, agnostic to cancer type, develop biomarkers in tissue and less invasive clinical samples such as blood (liquid biopsy) with sophisticated bioinformatic and artificial intelligence solutions for multi-modal laboratory and clinical biomarker data analysis and interpretation. Our preclinical programmes focus on development of pharmacodynamic biomarker and evaluation the efficacy of novel therapeutics in patient derived models. As a bridge between discovery science and clinical research, we are highly collaborative across Manchester, nationally and internationally.
