About the Role
Applications are invited for the above role in Dr Suchita Nadkarni’s lab. The role will be a 2-year full-time-fixed term position to investigate the role of the maternal immune system and how it may contribute to the development of fetal congenital heart diseases in human pregnancies that are ultimately diagnosed with a fetal CHD. Specifically, the project will involve obtaining maternal blood samples for in-depth immune cell phenotyping and plasma samples from pregnancies that have been diagnosed with a fetal CHD at the 20-week scan. Additionally, at the time of delivery of the baby and placenta, placenta samples will be collected and processed for RNA-sequencing and histological analyses
About You
The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant topic including pregnancy, placenta, inflammation or cardiovascular research. Demonstrable experience in effectively recruiting and consenting patients for clinical studies, as well handling and processing patient blood and tissue samples, as well as a publication record appropriate for the career stage, is required.
