The Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in the Faculty of Law is looking to recruit a full time Programmes Manager with expertise and understanding of the contemporary debates in human rights, the rule of law and democracy, in both academic scholarship and practice. The Programmes Manager will manage and develop the Institute’s programmes and develop strong links between the Institute, practitioners and scholars working in the broad field of human rights, in the UK and globally.
The Programmes Manager will report to the Institute Director and manage various programmes within the Bonavero, and support the director in reviewing and expanding existing programmes and developing new ones. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in their own research.
The successful candidate will have a doctorate in an aspect of human rights law, constitutionalism or the rule of law (or related field) or commensurate work experience in the field of human rights research, advocacy or legal practice; demonstrate programme and project management skills, including an ability to foster teamwork, collaborate closely and enable the career development of others; have the ability to represent the Institute in the international human rights arena, and develop its profile and reputation. It would be desirable for candidates to have relevant experience in practical human rights work, for example in a national or international NGO, international organisation, tribunal, in the legal profession or as part of a law clinic; have knowledge of key national and international research funders in the field and the ability to work in a major international language, other than English.
This role is full time and permanent, subject to the successful completion of a probationary period of one year.
