hivve is the global leader in verified impact data, helping organisations around the world to understand, capture, analyse and report the impact of their research and business activities. We provide a blend of cloud-based technology and expert impact training / consultancy to support customers with their sustainability reporting objectives.

We are currently scaling internationally and looking to welcome a new part-time member to our team here in the United Kingdom.

As an Impact Consultant, you will play a crucial role in our consulting services team and will bring expertise in impact reporting, critical thinking and copy editing. We are looking for an individual who has had experience in developing Impact Case Studies and Environment Statements for the 2014 and/or 2021 Research Excellence Frameworks.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with an experienced global team, including the Head of Impact and also the Singapore-based CEO, making this an excellent opportunity to develop your career in international impact reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate  closely  with  hivve’s  stakeholders  to  deliver  and  implement  consulting services for existing clients, tailored to enhance the quality of organisations' Impact reporting.
  • Deliver hivve’s comprehensive consulting services to support clients in understanding what their impact is and how best to communicate it in written documents and support clients in their preparation for impact assessments, such as the REF 2029 submission.
  • Work with academics to support them develop their impact case studies from scratch
  • Review, copy edit and provide feedback on impact Case Studies, their associated outputs and evidence, and Environment Statements
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops and webinars as per the agreed agenda and timeframe, ensuring hivve’s clients receive structured insights and valuable training
  • Understand and guide academics and higher education institutions on key impact topics, such as what excellent impact reporting is elucidating the necessary data and evidence from the research teams and writing compelling impact reports.
  • Provide customers with insights guidance on the best practices for Impact Reporting
  • Suggest updates to existing consulting materials to ensure they remain current, appropriate, and relevant to evolving Higher Education standards and client needs.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the broader evolving Impact agenda, staying informed about key HE trends, best practices, and emerging frameworks.
  • Stay abreast of Higher Education Impact Assessment Frameworks (REF, RAE)  in various geographical regions (UK, HK) to inform and align consulting strategies with evolving impact reporting standards

Review existing training materials to determine that they are up-to-date, appropriate and relevant, and make updates as necessary. Modify or create materials and training resources to meet specific training needs.

You Will Have:

  • Expertise in impact reporting and report writing - Impact Case Studies and Environment Statements.
  • Previous experience with REF reporting submissions at a UK Higher Education Institution Bachelor's degree; additional certifications in sustainability, copy writing or facilitation are a plus.
  • A strong grasp of the English language and understanding of the importance of differentiating communications for different audiences
  • A self-starting mindset, with the ability to work independently and remotely on tasks, including independent research and report creation or collaborate closely with the wider team as appropriate.
  • The ability to work with a diverse global team across multiple timezones, with members distributed from North America through Europe to APAC
  • A flexible approach as needed to coordinating with clients and team members working across different time zones
  • An inquisitive mind, comfortable with challenging what you see, both on paper and in person, to deliver excellent, evidence based impact reports.
  • A broad range of reading interests, to equip you with identifying the diverse projects, impact types and organisations that we work with
  • A desire to research and create compelling content (e.g. presentations, reports, webinars)
  • An interest in using software to support your work
  • An interest in travelling to client sites as and when required (e.g. for presentations, training.)

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent copy writing skills
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and facilitation skills.
  • Degree of technical literacy using Google Suite, hivve’s impact SaaS products and other systems
  • Ability to coordinate and present at all levels (internally and externally)
  • Discipline with excellent time management skills
  • Project Management, coordination and organisation skills
  • Broader impact expertise is a plus
  • Excellent eye for detail
