About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Bioinformatician to join the QMUL Genome Centre, a dynamic core facility providing genetics and genomics expertise to researchers with a huge diversity of interests. Projects range from naked mole rat genetics, through the genomics of immunobiology, to single cell analysis of tumour progression. Our growth areas are single cell (RNAseq and epigenomics), spatial genomics, genetics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics. The post holder will contribute to data analysis and will lead on implementing novel analysis tools within the group
About You
The successful applicant will have a meticulous eye for detail, a knack for rapid troubleshooting, and a proven track record of bioinformatics analysis. The appointee will have strong interpersonal skills as interaction with a range of clients and collaborators is a key part of the post. An understanding of genomics is important but extensive training in specific applications will be available and self-directed learning encouraged. The post holder will have a minimum of a first or second class degree in a relevant discipline but an advanced degree would be a significant advantage.
About the Faculty/Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of the largest of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching, and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week) indefinite appointment, with an expected start date of November 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 4 in the range of £38,165-£44,722 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
