The Relativistic Ultrafast Electron Diffraction and Imaging (RUEDI) Instrument is a collaborative large-scale facility between the the Rosalind Franklin Institute (RFI), the University of Liverpool and STFC Daresbury Laboratories. The project will design and construct a novel instrument for ultrafast imaging at diffraction located at Daresbury. The main project commences in 2025 and construction and commissioning are scheduled to take five years.
As a Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Rosalind Franklin Institute, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team designing and constructing the RUEDI instrument with responsibility for the design of the electron optical components of the imaging instrument using commercial software tools.
Responsibilities
This role will involve the electron optical design of the condenser, objective and projector lens systems for the imaging instrument operating at between 1 and 2MV primary energy. The applicant will work with industry standard software tools and will interact closely with team members working on other aspects of the imaging instrument and the team designing the diffraction instrument.
