About the role:
This is an 18-month appointment as a Research Assistant/Associate in Computational Methods for Sustainable Aviation open at the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College London. The post is funded by the Brahmal Vasudevan Institute for Sustainable Aviation (Brahmal Institute) to advance computational methods for the design and reliability assessment of technology solutions for sustainable aerospace and accelerate the transition to environmentally friendly aviation.
What you would be doing:
You will be part of a vibrant cross-disciplinary effort to make sustainable aviation possible and contribute to the advancement of research on multidisciplinary simulation-based optimization and multisource artificial learning schemes. You will be responsible for investigating and developing computational methods for a more efficient design, integration and reliability assessment of aerospace systems, which play a pivotal role to safely enable aerospace sustainability and accelerate the journey towards net zero aviation.
What we are looking for:
Applications are encouraged from candidates with research interests and demonstrable experience in two or more of the following areas:
Research Associate: Hold a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computational Science and Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant.
Research Assistant: A first / masters degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computational Science and Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
