Business Continuity Adviser

University Corporate Services - Insurance, Audit and Risk Team

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

This new full – time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.

Summary of the role

This is an exciting opportunity for those who have previous business continuity experience, looking to join a team which supports risk management, audit and insurance arrangements for the University of Exeter.

A strong working knowledge of business continuity principles is required, with the ability to support stakeholders with the development, review, exercising and implementation of business continuity and incident response plans. An understanding of business continuity principles and the ability to explain this to those not familiar with them is essential and previous knowledge of the higher education sector is desirable, but not essential. 

What would the average day look like?

Being part of the University community, in a great team on a beautiful campus, your average day in this post may include:

• Communicating effectively to work with individuals requesting advise or support in developing or facilitating plans.
• Undertake ongoing engagement with business continuity owners across all areas of the University to raise awareness of potential issues, increased risks and encourage regular exercising of plans.
• As a subject matter expert, supporting queries relating to the initiation of plans in the event of incidents impacting the University as well as assist in debriefing and subsequent updates of plans.
• Supporting the Insurance, Audit and Risk Manager with reporting to senior management
