Exeter Innovation
This new full-time post is available from January 2025 until 31st December 2027.
It is based in Exeter Innovation, managing the EPSRC-funded ‘Digital Innovation and Circular Economy Network+’ project at the University of Exeter.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and coordination of an interdisciplinary project that aims to leverage the power of the digital revolution to drive a circular economy across sectors through collaboration, research and technological innovation. The project includes external partners from across academia, industry and government working across a number of interdisciplinary areas.
Impact and Partnership Development Managers (IPDMs) identify opportunities for impact, bring together internal teams and build external partnerships to enhance project delivery. They also develop and are responsible for long-term strategic partnerships between the University and regional, national and international stakeholders. They work closely with the University’s Research Service and Global Advancement teams as part of an integrated Professional Services eco-system.
The DICE Network+ team consists of world leading interdisciplinary researchers working at the interface of Circular Economy, Digital Technology, Materials Science and ICT from the universities of Exeter, Sheffield, Salford, Swansea, Southampton, Surrey, Nottingham, Queens University Belfast, and the Open University.
As project manager for the DICE Network+ you will be responsible for the development and implementation of network activities within the project. The Project Manager will act as a key coordinating point for all partners of the interdisciplinary team, the project funders, and external stakeholders. The primary role of the Project Manager will be to facilitate the delivery of project activities and coordinate the administration and delivery of funding against the project milestones and budget.

About you
The post-holder will have experience of managing or promoting research projects, including impact, research communication and research development. They will contribute to the strategic development of the project and support the project lead with developing and maintaining new and existing long-term strategic partnerships with regional, national and international stakeholders.
External liaison with partners, including government offices and funders is required in this role and a professional and confidential approach will be required. You should be highly organised and have proven excellent communication, IT, and administrative skills, being able to work independently as well as assisting with developing team working practices and ethos across a distributed team.
Experience of working in a Higher Education or similar industrial environment, line management and project management skills are essential. The post holder will carry out a varied range of tasks, including budgeting, accounting, producing reports and organising meetings.
The post will require close working with Impact and Partnership Development Managers (IPDMs) within the Business School team, wider EI/Research Services and other professional services directorates and key academic colleagues across all the University Departments and Institutes.
