Background
Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia; a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Every day, Admiral Nurses help families up and down the country to have the best life possible for as long as possible.
Purpose of the job/About the role
This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Research, Evidence and Impact team at Dementia UK, leading on research, evidence, and impact activities within the clinical directorate.
The post holder will provide senior leadership for all research and evaluation activities across relevant teams, supporting evidence-driven development of Admiral Nursing and its impact on families affected by dementia. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will ensure that research, evidence, and impact are integrated into the charity’s operational and strategic planning, while championing evidence-based decision-making.
You will represent the charity on matters related to research and evaluation, promoting our work to both internal and external stakeholders. This will position Dementia UK as a respected and trusted source of clinical and academic information within the field. Your focus will be on ensuring that all activities prioritise people with dementia and their families, embedding lived experience and co-production at the heart of these efforts.
To succeed in this role, you will hold a doctorate or advanced degree in a health or social care subject, with recognised national expertise in research or evaluation activities. Your academic experience should include a strong publication record and extensive work in the fields of research or impact. You will possess expert knowledge of the health and social care landscape, particularly in relation to dementia and its impact on individuals and families. Additionally, you will demonstrate significant experience in strategic leadership in research or evaluation within higher education or health and social care organisations. Operational and team leadership experience, including budgeting and resource management, is also essential.
If this sounds like you, join us now and be part of a team dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
