We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the IDEA (Intelligent Design of Engineering Alloys) group at the University of Sheffield, to research ways to improve powder usage in the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) process.
This project is fully funded by the ATI in a large collaborative programme, with several Industry partners, including Airbus, GKN and Renishaw. You will interact with the wider research team and ROYCE Institute at facilities, both locally at the University of Sheffield, and across the UK.
We are seeking candidates who hold (or are close to completion of) a PhD in materials science, engineering, or physical science, with experience in the operation of quantitative characterisation equipment. This should also include experience of sample preparation, optical and electron microscopy, particle shape analysis and X-ray diffraction.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
