Applicants are invited for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Immunology at the University of Manchester.

We are looking to appoint an emerging or established leader in immunology and related sub-disciplines, to complement our strengths in this strategically important discipline and increase the capability of the School to respond to strategic funding calls in this area. The interplay between host immune processes, pathogens and commensals that underpin the pathology of diverse inflammatory disorders and infectious disease are central themes of many groups in Manchester. Moreover, we are increasingly building a portfolio of researchers at the interface of immunology and other disciplines including neuroimmunology, matrix immunology, environmental/eco-immunology, cancer immunology and immunometabolism, among others. These themes are strongly supported by the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation and more broadly within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

The successful applicant will have an established internationally recognized research program in the field of immunology or demonstrate the capacity to establish a leading research group in the immediate future. Working collaboratively, you will drive world-leading research to enhance our strengths in immunology, complementing our overall multidisciplinary strategy, and contribute to leadership roles to shape the future of immunology in Manchester. You will also contribute to our outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate programs within the School of Biological Sciences and wider University; with opportunities to develop curriculum, innovate teaching and provide an exceptional student experience through research-led learning.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
