Postdoc in Corrosion of Metallic Materials in Alkaline and Molten Salt Environments

If you are establishing your career as scientist and are interested in addressing the challenges of achieving CO2 neutrality, then we have just the right opportunity for you. We are seeking a postdoc to work in projects related to corrosion and materials durability used for green transition technologies such as heat storage, nuclear molten salt reactors and alkaline electrolyzes.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within corrosion and to optimize components for the development of new energy technologies. You will work with near colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Carry out experimental work investigating corrosion properties of metallic materials for use in green transition technologies as heat storage, nuclear molten salt reactors and alkaline electrolyzers for green hydrogen production.
  • Take part in work combining experimental results with modelling of corrosion at atomistic level with the aim of high scientific output as participation in conferences and publications.
  • Establish and perform electrochemical investigations (LPR, CYV, EIS) using molten salt corrosion setups and to perform materials characterization using techniques as LOM, SEM/EDS and XRD.
  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects and be co-supervisor for PhD students. 

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Furthermore you have experience and background in the above mentioned activities together with good communication skills and experience with industrial collaboration as well as interaction with students.

 Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
