Research Assistant (ZEBRA)

University of Bath

Location: Bath
Salary: £29,605 to £36,024 Grade 6, per annum
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 16th September 2024
Closes: 23rd September 2024
Job Ref: FM12069

About the role

The built environment is responsible for approximately 40% of carbon emissions in the industrialised world. As we move towards a carbon neutral society, the construction community needs to provide more efficient buildings. We know that early-stage decisions have the largest impact on the energy use of a building. So we need tools that work with the knowledge available at these stages, and with the people involved in the project at this point.

ZEBRA is a free, novel and simple tool for modelling the energy and carbon performance of buildings.

This short-term IAA funded role is to continue the development of our ZEBRA suite of software and to make attempts to encourage its use, with in part the idea of creating a REF impact case study. The first task will be to mesh zebra into design studio work.

For an informal discussion, please contact Prof. David Coley at dac33@bath.ac.uk.
Please ensure your application is submitted via our website.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • a basic understanding of building physics and buildings
  • reasonable excel skills, including VBScript
  • knowledge of using ZEBRA
