King’s College London is a multi-disciplinary, research-led university with over 40,000 students from 150 countries. Our five campuses in the heart of London span boroughs that offer some of the greatest opportunities and connections across medical London, legal, cultural, business, and policy – as well as some of the greatest socio-economic challenges and levels of health inequality. Our partnerships reach across the globe and 40% of our staff come from overseas. We combine our knowledge and scholarship to make a genuine impact locally and globally.
King’s is now seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to the role of Dean for Research for the highly successful Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences (FoDOCS), the largest dental faculty in Europe. The Dean for Research is a member of the faculty leadership team and is responsible for leading the research agenda of the faculty, developing strong cross-disciplinary collaborations, and leading by example in raising the research profile.
Reporting to the Executive Dean and working closely with other faculty and university leaders, the Dean for Research will be expected to lead and inspire, continue to develop a research culture of inclusivity, collaboration, excellence, and translational impact with a foundation of strong compliance. Managerial experience and leadership qualities within a complex setting are essential, alongside the ability to encourage and nurture interdisciplinary opportunities, and partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as provide mentorship and guidance to early career researchers.
The faculty distinguishes itself by its unique research portfolio in dental, oral and craniofacial sciences, embracing blue skies discovery research in addition to translational and clinical sciences. The successful candidate will therefore bring a distinguished profile in a field relevant to the faculty with evidence of securing grants and publishing in top journals, as well as experience of driving research agendas and identifying future opportunities.
Both King’s and FoDOCS support the career development of staff from all backgrounds and the Dean for Research will be expected to evidence a deep commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. For further information please visit the job description and to apply please go to the Jobs at King's pages and submit the specified documentation.
