The role
The University of Bristol wishes to recruit a scientist with a passion for research and interest in developing new instrumentation. They will be a highly skilled & qualified graduate, who will lead and deliver a project with Markes International, Bridgend, Wales (where you will be based). The project aims to develop a stable, commercially available analytical system which enables accurate monitoring of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances to support independent emissions verification on a global scale. This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) position is part-funded through the KTP programme (https://www.ktp-uk.org/) and includes a £4,667 training budget and 10% of your time dedicated to your personal development. You will have access to the University’s USS pension scheme, with generous employer contributions.
What will you be doing?
As a KTP Associate, you will work with Markes International to embed new know-how using research and academic support from the University. You will be the project lead and have the creative freedom to suggest changes and implement your ideas. The project involves:

Ideally, we are looking for an analytical chemist or similar with strong hands-on technical skills who will thrive in a busy, multi-discipline environment. Creative & resourceful they will have had experience of “making things work” – and may even have designed and built modifications to current equipment in order that they function in the way required to complete the job. Someone to whom the words “what if we did this” are seen as the starting point to innovation and to whom “we’ve always done it this way” makes their heart sink.
