We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in synthetic biology to engineer and characterise cyanobacterial strains for growth on industrial flue gases.
The Opportunity:
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position in cyanobacterial synthetic biology is available in the laboratory of Prof. Alistair McCormick at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to take a lead role in engineering the fast-growing cyanobacterial strain Synechococcus sp. PCC 11901 for growth on industrial flue gases for enhanced CO2 capture and biomass accumulation. This is a Carbon Technology Research Foundation (CTRF) funded project and involves international collaborations with the University of East Anglia and Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and our collaborative partner CyanoCapture.
