This new full time post is available immediately on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Summary of the role
The University of Exeter is seeking to recruit an Assistant Building Surveyor, qualified to degree level, ideally with recent experience of working in a building surveying, or multi-disciplinary team helping to deliver complex projects.
The position will involve CAD drawing work, project management, design, supervision and contract administration of variably sized refurbishment and alteration projects with values up to £200k. A wide variety of workload can be guaranteed and the role will suit an enthusiastic surveyor who wishes to pursue a career in a client organisation.
Estate Services also has significant responsibilities for organising planned maintenance to the estate, with values typically in the range of £25k to £2m. The post-holder will be expected to advise on technical matters and deal with general estate issues relating to such planned maintenance.
Preferably, candidates will be able to demonstrate their recent experience, comprising the delivery of projects up to the value of £200k and also any experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams. Remuneration will be competitive within the market and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant will be required to take responsibility for other members of the surveying team, such as clerks of works and must be able to work under his/her own initiative.
The post is a hybrid position with three days a week based on the Streatham Campus and it offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to build upon existing surveying and management skills.
