We are looking for an experienced creative Project Manager to lead on the delivery of Leeside, an arts-science collaboration project that aims to assess people’s values about protected sites. Leeside is an eight-month creative collaboration between Natural England and the University of Exeter and supported by the Arts and Culture Exeter and Natural England’s Protected Site Strategies (PSS) research and development project.
Two arts commissions will be awarded, one in Devon and one in Cornwall, around protected sites (e.g. Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), etc) facing external pressures such as nutrient pollution, overgrazing, recreational disturbance, neglect or poor management. The sites have been selected for their rich ecological, cultural and heritage significance, and research potential for replicating and scaling to become case studies. Impact and legacy are key priorities for the commissions, with the intended outcome of encouraging community empowerment for future engagement in the management of protected sites, and informing relevant policy around protected site strategies.
The post-holder will manage all aspects of the Leeside project, for example, advising and agreeing on working schedules with creative practitioners, overseeing budget spend, event planning and delivery, promotion of project objectives, evaluation, reporting and line-management. The post-holder will raise the profile of Arts and Culture and Natural England through contributing actively to creative and cultural networks across Devon and Cornwall, demonstrating a strong understanding of place, heritage and diversity through Protected Sites. The post-holder must work productively and in alignment with the rest of the Arts and Culture team, Natural England, university colleagues, and associated stakeholders.
The role can be based at either the Streatham or Penryn campuses, with hybrid working available.
The role will involve travel to areas around Dartmoor and the Camel Estuary, not accessible via public transport.
We advise applicants to also read the Leeside Arts Commission callout, live on the Arts and Culture website – http://www.artsandcultureexeter.co.uk/
Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role.
