About this role
Applications are invited for the position of Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence to work in the School of Computing and Creative Technologies located in the College of Art, Technology and Environment at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
The position is designated as research-intensive for the first three years, to enable growth and development in attracting further research funding and activity. To support this development, the role is split as 80 per cent research and 20 per cent teaching for the first three years. Beyond this initial period, you will continue as a permanent member of staff. We would expect the successful candidate to have developed their research trajectory further during this period, capitalising upon opportunities for external funding and collaborations, with the intention of applying for an Associate Professor position within the School.
You will be a key member of the Computer Science Research Centre (CSCR) where the majority of research activity of the School is coordinated. Our core themes are Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Smart Cities, Data Science and Expressive Computer Interactions. You will be expected to manage research projects and supervise PhD students. Our PhD community form a key part of our industrial research collaboration, with many working in collaboration with industry partners from defence, aerospace, and telecommunications sectors as part of our Partnership PhD scheme.
We are recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre as a Gold Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE) that brings together academics from across the University to address multi-disciplinary challenges within the scope of Cyber Security.
About you
We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious individual with a strong track record of research, evidenced by achieving external research funding, high-quality publication, and impactful collaborative partnerships across industry and academia.
You will have excellent technical skills with research outputs in cyber security and artificial intelligence. You will be expected to work with Research Centres across the University to create research that crosses discipline boundaries. For example, we currently work with research teams at UWE in the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, Engineering, Bristol Business School, Criminology and Health.
We offer a wide range of employee benefits including progressive pay rates, generous annual leave and career average pension schemes as well as retail savings, onsite nursery and opportunities for training, personal and professional development.
As a Disability Confident employer, we welcome applications from those who identify as having a disability.
Add your individuality to ours
UWE Bristol recognises the power of a truly diverse university community.
We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian or racially minoritised and female candidates as we are currently under-represented in this area of the organisation, however all appointments are made strictly on individual merit.
