The Applications Management Division in the Directorate of Digital and Information Services is looking for a full-time Junior Software Developer to join the Department. This role is for an early-stage software developer who will participate in a training and development programme to equip them with the essential skills for the role.
The successful Junior Software Developer will be part of our Database Development team, working with our corporate systems, integrations and APIs.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline or have equivalent relevant experience.
A familiarity with a programming language, common design patterns, databases and software engineering practices (such as version control) is required, however specific training in the languages and technologies will be given as part of the role, so an ability to learn is essential, rather than knowledge of specific languages.
You should possess good analytical skills, with the ability to confidently interact with a broad range of both technical and non-technical users. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a requirement alongside strong time management and organisational skills.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 5, £31,396 - £34,980 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Informal enquiries should be made to Karen Grant, Database Development Manager, 01224 273586 k.grant@abdn.ac.uk
This post does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post that require sponsorship to work in the UK.
