The research group of Prof Luning Liu (www.luningliu.org) is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to lead a NERC funded project to develop genetic constructs of the model cyanobacteria Synechocystis 6803 and Synechococcus 7942 (as) and reprogramme their CO2-fixing machinery – the carboxysomes – to generate powerful machinery with catalytically improved enzymes and functionalities for carbon fixation using synthetic biology. You will have the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, cell physiology, and microscopy. You will be involved in world-class research and networking on understanding the formation and bioengineering of protein organelles for biotechnological and biomedical applications. You should have a PhD degree in microbiology/molecular biology and experience of live-cell fluorescence imaging. The post is available until 30th November 2025.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
