About the role
Finance and Performance are seeking a motivated, proactive individual to join the Assistant Business Accountants team on a fixed term basis.
The post holder will support the Business Accountants working in partnership with Faculties and Professional Services, providing support and advice as appropriate to retain focus on value for money, wider issues and enable achievement of the targets in the BU Strategic Plan.
Experience preparing and monitoring budgets and the ability to use complex spreadsheets and reporting systems is essential. You will also demonstrate ability to undertake reconciliation of large datasets such as staff establishments and student accommodation income.
In addition, the post holder will produce monthly management accounts highlighting key variances, support preparation of the annual revenue budgets for the designated Faculties/Professional Services and regularly monitor and comment on the forecast for the year end outturn.

About the department
The Finance and Procurement department provides advice and support on financial and commercial matters to teams across the university, as well as ensuring that all regulatory demands are adhered to and financial transactions are timely, complete, and accurate for all income and expenditure, including payroll. The Procurement team works with a wide range of suppliers, helping to manage all BU procurement activity and assisting and advising the University’s faculty and professional service departments in relation to their purchasing requirements.
