About the role
The Visitor Experience & Retail departments are responsible for generating income and profit for the Bodleian Libraries through on-site sales of tour tickets and merchandise.
As a Visitor Experience and Retail Assistant, you will interact with visitors from a variety of backgrounds, delivering key messages, and supporting the operational requirements of the library.
You will be part of a dynamic team on a daily rota, welcoming visitors, using product knowledge to inspire our customers and maximise sale opportunities. You will follow operating procedures and cash handling regulations to ensure shop & site security. This requires you to take an active part in retail legislation and participate in product training sessions.
Deliver a world-class experience for visitors by acting as the institution’s ambassador, remaining friendly, approachable and welcoming at all times. To help you achieve this, you will receive comprehensive and structured training, alongside regular reviews and one-to-one meetings with your manager.
As a Retail Assistant within the Bodleian Library will work in both shops and ticket desks to contribute to the ongoing success of the department.
This is a permanent Variable Hours role (paid as claimed), with shifts being allocated on a monthly basis to support busy periods, staff holidays and periods of absence.
About You
You will have previous experience of working in a shop floor sales or Visitor Experience role.
You will be self-motivated, dependable and pay attention to detail, with a commitment to providing the highest standards of customer service.
You will have an interest in history and heritage.
You will provide support in all day-to-day operational tasks under the supervision of the Duty Manager.
