The UCL Cancer Institute (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/) is the hub for cancer research at University College London, one of the World's leading universities. The Institute draws together over 400 talented scientists who are working together to translate research discoveries into developing kinder, more effective therapies for cancer patients.
This role will involve working across the myeloma and immunotherapy labs in UCL to drive the above project, You will develop new approaches to CAR-T design based on rational modulation of T cell function, and evaluate CAR-T cell activity primarily in vivo. Using skills of protein engineering, CRISPR screening in combination with detailed phenotyping by high dimensional flow cytometry, single cell and bulk sequencing, and TCR sequencing.
Salary offered for this post will either be on grade 7: £42,099 - £50,585 per annum or grade 8: £51,474 - £60,521 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

About you
The successful candidate must have a PhD in a related subject and laboratory experience. Immunology or Cancer biology background favoured. A BSc (2:1) in biomedical sciences or a related subject is essential.
Experience in CRISPR screening platforms and previous exposure to tumour immunology are desirable but not essential.
For appointment at Grade 8 successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of independent working and leadership and management experience and ability. Ability to present work and represent PI independently will be essential.
