The role
We are looking to appoint a Study Skills Tutor on a part-time basis of 21 hours per week, working in the Study Skills team in Library Services, enabling academic development for students primarily studying arts, law and social sciences subjects, including business and economics. You will facilitate tutorials and workshops both in-person and online, create online resources, host structured study sessions and contribute to the activities of the Study Skills team and Library Services.
What will you be doing?
You will be supporting arts, law and social sciences students with their core academic skills. You will organise and deliver a comprehensive program of online and in-person academic skills teaching, particularly individual tutorials (including some out of core hours), small group workshops and online resource development. You will also liaise with key academics and school administrators to publicise, arrange teaching, and gather and respond to feedback about the Study Skills service. You will keep accurate records of sessions delivered and develop your own teaching materials, either alone or in collaboration with others in the team, or in similar services. You will liaise with our student team, the Bristol Futures Advocates and also seek and act upon student input to materials and delivery.
You should apply if
You care about student empowerment through the development of their academic skills. A background in a social sciences subject and experience of working with international students would be advantageous. Some teaching experience is required, as is understanding of current pedagogic values in post 16 education. Anyone who enjoys finding innovative and creative solutions for academic development delivery is encouraged to apply.
