We are seeking two enthusiastic and dedicated candidates to undertake pioneering research on soft robotic systems designed to replicate the adaptable functions of the human upper limb. This opportunity is ideal for those interested in developing robotic hardware that combines physical intelligence with artificial intelligence. You will join two dynamic, multidisciplinary teams within the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London, focusing on soft robotics and neurorehabilitation. You will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and receive close mentorship from your supervisors, Dr. Majid Taghavi and Prof. Dario Farina, along with guidance from postdoctoral researchers.
Your work, starting in January 2025, will involve developing an advanced robotic muscle system and implementing learning-based control techniques to replicate the biomechanics of the upper limb, including the shoulder and wrist. We seek candidates with a strong passion for interdisciplinary research, a solid understanding of robotics from mechanical and electrical engineering perspectives, and an interest in materials science and machine learning. You should be capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team. High-standard research, presentation of findings at leading scientific conferences, and publication in high-impact journals are expected.
Please email your CV and cover letter to:
Dr. Majid Taghavi at m.taghavi@imperial.ac.uk by November 10th, 2024.
Ensure that your cover letter includes two references and indicates whether you are a home or international student.
Applications from international students are welcome.
However, the difference between UK and overseas tuition fees may not be covered and will need discussion.
